Xbox Series X is entering the next generation swinging!
Jul 24, 2020After coming out of the gate earlier this year with a slate of next-gen games coming to Xbox Series X, we were promised that more games would be shown later and this week’s Xbox Games Showcase gave us just that. From world premieres to an extended look at Halo Infinite, here is what was shown during the live stream!
Halo Infinite
At long last, we finally see what Halo Infinite looks like. It has been five years since the release of Halo 5: Guardians and Master Chief’s next adventure is the biggest yet. The game is larger than both Halo 4 and 5 combined and takes players back to the titular Halo ring for the game’s story. The game is coming out this holiday season
Forza Motorsport
Dropping any sort of numbered entry for the latest driving simulator, the latest Forza Motorsport is going head to head with Gran Turismo 7 for the best new driving game.
Everwild
Rare’s newest game Everwild got a new look, and even though details are scarce, the game looks magical.
Grounded
Obsidian Games’ Honey I Shrunk the Kids inspired game also got another look. You can join your friends in coop on a small scale. Every day bugs and objects are massive compared to you, and its up to you to find out how to get back to normal size.
Avowed
The next big role-playing game from Obsidian is called Avowed. Where The Outer Worlds tried its hand at the sort of tone inspired by Fallout, Avowed is tackling the first-person roleplaying experience cemented by The Elder Scrolls but this time in the Pillars of Eternity universe.
As Dusk Falls
An interactive, story-driven game follows two families over several years. The art style is very unique, and will no doubt be a hard-hitting story that people can relate to since it takes place in the American Southwest.
Psychonauts 2
Psychonauts 2 has been long-awaited and is still coming. Jack Black is confirmed to be in the game as one of the many characters that our hero Raz meets on his platforming journey.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light
In addition to coming to Game Pass, Destiny 2: Beyond Light is the next expansion for the RPG Shooter. The Series X (and PS5) is getting an updated, silky smooth 60 FPS version of the game, with a brand new expansion to keep players busy. Guardians will get new ice powers to use both against alien forces and fellow Guardians in the PVP arenas.
Tetris Effect: Connected
The stellar version of classic puzzle game Tetris, Tetris Effect is coming to Xbox and is getting multiplayer
The Gunk
Explore and clean up a distant world polluted with, gunk.
Fable
Xbox’s signature RPG series, Fable, is coming back in a big way on Series X. Since we were only shown a brief cinematic, it is safe to say that this one isn’t coming soon. There is a ton of potential for a new Fable, though, and a fantasy world brimming with color and personality is always welcome.
