Every year since 2011, Microsoft has released a new entry in the Forza series and while the franchise really let loose with the Forza Horizon games it was the Forza Motorsport titles that initially took the spotlight. Each game sets a high bar for quality in both gameplay and graphics but the narrower scope in the Motorsport series may be running out of steam, especially compared to the wide-open world of Forza Horizon.
Forza Motorsport 7 looks better than ever.
High Quality and High Speed
Forza 7 kicks things off with a beautiful opening that really showcases the theme of the series, a deep love for racing. Every inch of this series feels well thought out from the way your car handles to the sound of the engine shifting gears, regardless of a player's love or hate for racing it is undeniable that Forza Motorsport 7 sets a lofty bar in terms of quality. And if you're one of those players that has a tough time playing through a racing game you'll be happy to know that Forza Motorsport 7 keeps the game incredibly accessible for the greenest of gamers.
The Dubai location is a highlight in the game.
That quality didn't diminish the games quantity either, over 700 cars, more than 2 dozen racing spots, and a slew of different weather systems to give you a ton of variety. Each car has an endless amount of paint jobs that can be personally created or downloaded from other players with a flair for design. You can even throw your driver into some fancy clothes and give a little more customization than Motorsport's open-world brethren.

Gas in the Tank
While the biggest racing games have much more of an arcade-y feel, Forza Motorsport stands along games like Gran Turismo and Project Cars and strives to be more of a driving simulator. You'll be racing along realistic tracks and sometimes recreations of real-life courses in the Forza Motorsport series just live we've been doing in all of the previous entries, this is the first time that I asked myself: "how much longer can these games keep coming?" Forza's key gameplay is fantastic, drifting feels awesome, auto-braking and following guidelines helps newcomers succeed, and the returning Drivatar system keeps things interesting but all of those things are true of Forza Motorsport 5 and 6.
Forza Motorsport 7 - E3 2017 - 4K Announce Trailer
The game looks better than ever and when the Xbox One X releases owners will be able to play the game at a 4K resolution while still maintaining the game's 60 frames per second. But this begs the question of the franchise, "what else can change other than graphics?" Forza Motorsport can get better and better looking but it's getting to be time to see some real shake-ups to the gameplay. Turn 10 is one of the best developers out there so it's a shame to just see prettier versions of the same sort of game we've been getting since the launch of the Xbox One.
Drivers have more customization options than the Forza spinoff.
Final Thoughts
Let's make this clear, Forza Motorsport 7 is an impressive game. If you haven't gotten the chance to play the earlier games in the series than this is an awesome chance to get in, if you've played Forza Motorsport 5 or 6 than I'd say you'd just be getting more of the same. More cars, more graphic power, and more Forza.
