PlayStation 5 News Blowout! Games, Consoles, and More!
Check out a wide variety of games hitting the next-gen system soon, as well as a look at the console itself.
Jun 15, 2020After a short delay following its announcement, PlayStation unveiled its lineup of next-gen exclusive games hitting the PS5 later this year and into 2021. The hour-long showcase brought us fresh looks at a ton of amazing looking games, with a little bit of something for everyone and gamers of all ages.
The Games
The showcase was primarily focused on what matters, the games. The show started with the confirmation of a new and improved version of the ever-popular GTAV, but then the bombshells just kept dropping one by one. Let’s break down each game, with each being labeled as an Exclusive if they’re only available on the PS5, Timed Exclusive if they are going to hit other consoles later, or Multi-Platform if they will be available at the same time somewhere else.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Exclusive)
Acting as a standalone expansion of Marvel's Spider-Man for PS4, Miles Morales puts you in control of the young Miles as he dons his signature black and red Spidey suit and comes to grips with his powers. After the recent Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, a brand new story set in Insomniac's fantastic game is most welcome. The base game will also see a ton of upgrades that are seen on display in Miles Morales, thanks to the upgraded power of PS5.

Gran Turismo 7 (Exclusive)
Racing games are always great showpieces for new consoles, offering incredibly detailed visuals that you rarely see anywhere else. Gran Turismo 7 is one of the most impressive examples yet, showing off what an incredible difference the ray-tracing technology makes on the game world. Nearly every surface casts realistic reflections, and the cars themselves look photo-realistic at times. Racing fans are not going to want to miss this one.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Exclusive)
One of PlayStation’s signature dynamic duos is back for a dimension-hopping adventure. More than most things shown off during the stream, Rift Apart is a true showcase of what the PS5’s SSD technology can do. As Ratchet and Clank blink from world to world instantaneously, that is something that never could have been possible before especially with so many characters, ships, and landscapes whizzing past. We haven’t had a brand new Ratchet adventure since the PS3, with the remake of the first game hitting PS4 back in 2016. Even though the remake changed a whole lot from the original, it is nice to see a completely new journey for these characters to embark on.

Project Athia (Timed Exclusive)
Not much is known about the newest game from Square Enix, but like many of the games shown, it looks beautiful.
Stray (Also Coming to PS4 and PC)
A far-future cityscape, robots, and cats. What more do you need to hear?
Returnal (Exclusive)
Housemarque is responsible for some of the PS4’s best Arcadey titles including the stellar launch title Resogun, and their next game is a bit different from what they are known for. In Returnal you play as an explorer who is forced to live, die, and repeat her fate over and over as you explore a hostile alien planet. From the bits of gameplay in the trailer, we can see snippets of signature Housemarque action, just from a new, closer to the character viewpoint.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure (Exclusive)
LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy is due for a 3D platformer, and he is finally getting one in A Big Adventure. The creativity of LBP is here in spades, but instead of playing and creating side-scroller levels you and your friends can embark on a 3D platforming journey not too far off from Super Mario 3D World.
Destruction Allstars (Exclusive)
Car-Combat is back, flashier, and more explosive than ever. Unlike classics like Twisted Metal, you can also get out of the car. The extreme sports look and the colorful cast of characters make this one to keep an eye on.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits (Timed Exclusive)
Another standout from the show, Kena: Bridge of Spirits has action, adventure, cute animals, beautiful landscapes, and beasts in your way. We’ve seen plenty of games like it where you explore, fight, and platform, but nothing with this level of wonderment and detail. The trailer speaks for itself:
Goodbye Volcano High (Timed Exclusive)
Although it is not clear exactly what kind of game Volcano High is, its animation style looks like something straight out of a cartoon, and the music leaves a lasting impression.
Oddworld: Soulstorm (Timed Exclusive)
Oddworld has been around since back in 1997 starting with Abe's Oddysee. Several games later come Soulstorm, the next proper 2D side-scrolling adventure through creator Lorne Lanning’s bizarre and mystical world.
Ghostwire: Tokyo (Timed Exclusive)
Tokyo is overrun by spirits, and you are tasked with wielding supernatural powers to stop them. The streets of Tokyo have never been recreated more realistically, minus the ghosts.
Jett: The Far Shore (Timed Exclusive)
Explorers, hundreds of years away from a dire future earth search for a new home among the stars. This is another one where the sound steals the show.
Godfall (Timed Exclusive)
One of the very first games announced for PS5, Godfall pits powerful warriors against each other in an arena where only the mightiest survive.
Solar Ash (Timed Exclusive)
From the creators of Hyper Light Drifter, but this time taking place in a fully 3D world, Solar Ash is shrouded in mystery, but the menacing being, the empty but intriguing world the main character finds themselves in leaves much room for the imagination to run wild.
Hitman 3 (Multi-Platform)
Agent 47 is back for an all-new set of globe-trotting missions.
Astro’s Playroom (Exclusive)
Serving as players’ first introduction into what PS5 is capable of, Astro’s Playroom is included with every PlayStation 5 and lets you play through four different worlds each with their own twists.
Little Devil Inside (Timed Exclusive)
What is real in this game? All of it? None of it? Either way, this game is one of the most varied games shown off with sections taking place in the modern-day and a fantasy landscape where you sneak around, fight wild beasts, and explore a modern city? I have a feeling we haven’t seen close to everything that this game has in store.
NBA 2K21 (Multi-Platform)
Basketball fans will be excited to learn that the next NBA 2K is releasing on schedule, complete with brand new ray-traced sweat technology on display on the players’ bodies.
Bugsnax (Timed Exclusive)
A game where creatures eat food and turn into food. You and the wildlife are what you eat in Bugsnax.
Demon’s Souls (Exclusive)
This one is a full remake of the game that started it all, Demon’s Souls, the game that led to Dark Souls. Bluepoint, the team behind the amazing remake of Shadow of the Colossus is behind this one, and it looks gorgeous.
Deathloop (Timed Exclusive)
Arkane Studios’ signature immersive gameplay and fun powers are on full display in Deathloop, their next game that pits two rival assassins against each other all while caught in a time loop.
Resident Evil: Village (Multi-Platform)
If you come across this village, turn around.
Pragmata (Multi-Platform)
I honestly don’t know what just happened but I can’t wait to find out. You just gotta watch this one:
Horizon Forbidden West (Exclusive)
Aloy is back and heading West. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the PS4’s best games, and its sequel looks to be shaping up incredibly well. The gorgeous landscapes are here once again, and there are still plenty of robot animals to take down as Aloy continues to unlock the mysteries of the world before it all went dark and the machines took over.
The Console
In addition to the games, we also get a nice detailed look at the console itself. Its unusual design is already the subject of dozens of memes online, but the futuristic look makes it look far different than any PlayStation before. There are two versions, one with a disc drive and one without if you just want to download games and stream content. No word on price just yet, but more info is coming soon.
