Sony's Playstation 4, is set to release in just 5 short weeks and its stronger launch-window games may be the unexpected ones. Sure, there will be Killzone: Shadowfall for the graphics junkies and Drive Club is shaping up to be a satisfying one for racing fans. But it's the games coming from the independent developers that have really caught my eye with originality. Indies are easily among the more interesting and unique games coming to Sony's next-gen console around launch and there's one that's getting the spotlight today.
It's called Octodad: Dadliest Catch.
Octodad: Dadliest Catch, from developers Young Horses, is one of those games you simply can't help but smile at and for good reasons too. The game is just so ridiculous and charming in concept - You play as an Octopus, attempting to fool his family and the world into thinking that he is a human and hilarity obviously ensues.
Dadliest Catch is about destruction, deception and fatherhood, so says the developers, tongue firmly in cheek. Octodad's multiple limbs - all seemingly with minds of their own - constantly trip you up, flip chairs and generally cause complete mayhem. It's a riot to watch. Each limb is controlled separately, which like the game Surgeon Simulator (look it up), makes for some terrific laughs and I mean that in the best way.
