Similar to Microsoft, Sony had already announced their new console before E3 even started. However, there were many mysteries surrounding the PlayStation 4, including what it looked like. Sony's E3 press conference contained a lot of details about their new console as well as a bunch of game announcements for the PS4 and the handheld PlayStation Vita.
Playing on the PlayStation
One of the biggest pieces of news from Sony was a direct attack at the Microsoft Xbox One. Unlike the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 games can always be shared, sold, or bought used. Unlike the Xbox One, you do not need to be connected online in order to play games. Xbox One does require online connection, even for single player games. This is mainly so that they can make sure that the game being played is registered for the correct machine. However, Microsoft has announced that these restrictions are only options for publishers, meaning that not every game will have these restrictions.
Sony also revealed what the new console will look like and named a price for it: $399 USD.
Games Galore
The following games were announced for the PlayStation Vita: Batman: Arkham Origins, Doki Doki Universe, Killzone: mercneary, God of War HD, Final Fantasy X and X-2, Flower, Dead Nation, and The Walking Dead 400 Days. The PlayStation 3 will also be getting new games, including: The Last of Us (starring Ellen Page!), Gran Turismo 6, and Grand Theft Auto V. Finally, the games coming out for the PlayStation 4 includes: Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, NBA 2K14 (featuring Lebron James), and Diablo 3.
