Spider-Man has a new video game! It's called Spider-Man: Friend or Foe and, in case you haven't checked out the free game download, it lets you play as Spidey and a sidekick as you battle evil. When you clobber a bad guy, they join your team and you can choose them as a sidekick! Gary asked the people behind the game a few questions and here's what they had to say.

Gary: The first question is an easy one that's all about you - what do you think makes this game kick butt?
Jamie: The fact that you can play along side, and as, some of the coolest villains in the Marvel Universe makes Spider-Man: Friend or Foe really unique.
Gary: This new Spidey game has a very toony look to it, is it almost a casual game with super-easy controls?
Jamie: Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is definitely not a casual game but it is very accessible and easy to pick up and play. The casual players will be able to catch on very quickly and have a great time using even the basic moves. For the more skilled players, we have a pretty deep combat system with lots of combos and upgradeable abilities to take advantage of.
Gary: With the cartoony look, is there also a sense of humor to the action?
Jamie: Most definitely! That's one of the things we really wanted to take advantage of with Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. The stylized look, over the top combat and the fact that Spider-Man is teaming up with a host of characters who he hasn't exactly been buddies with left it wide open for us to have a really good time with the story and dialogue as well as the in-game action itself. We had a great writer, Brian Reed, working with us and he really brought a terrific sense of humor to the product. You can see this throughout - from the cut scenes to the banter between characters in game to just hanging out in the Helicarrier.
Gary: Can you play as Black-Suited Spider-Man with Venom as your sidekick?
Jamie: Absolutely! And, from experience, these two characters are a lot of fun to play side by side. I also recommend having them fight against one another in 2-player Versus Mode.
Gary: How many levels and villains are there to kick, punch and web-sling your way past?
Jamie: In Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, we have five different world locations, each with approximately four levels (each including sublevels and secret areas). There are seven different Marvel Super Villains to battle against along with a host of other enemies throughout the game.
Gary: Power-ups! Collectables! Mini-Games! Hook me up with some details on these hidden goodies will ya?
Jamie: We have tons of collectibles throughout the game just waiting to be found. There are the basic Tech Tokens which all enemies and most objects drop and these are used as the game's currency for purchasing upgrades and mods. Then, there are temporary power ups that the player can hold in his/her inventory for Invincibility, Mega Damage, Health Boosts, and a powerful room clearing team move called a Hero Strike. We also have hidden Keystones for unlocking secret battle arenas and DNA Helixes for unlocking bonus goodies. Our PSP and NDS versions have exclusive mini games as well.
Gary: If you had to pick one feature of this game as the coolest thing since sliced bread, what would it be?
Jamie: I would definitely pick Versus Mode. Where else can you and a friend fight against each other as Venom and Iron Fist?
