Prince Fielder - In the Shadows
Prince Fielder is the son of former Detroit Tiger great, and Hall of Famer, Cecil Fielder. Having a famous dad, Prince has always been around the game of baseball. As a kid, he starred in a McDonalds' commercial with his dad. But Prince was anything but a tag-a-long. When he was just 12 years old, he hit a home run in Tiger Stadium during batting practice. He carried that talent over to Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida, where he starred for four years. When he graduated high school in 2002, he was picked seventh overall in the draft to the Milwaukee Brewers.Prince Fielder - Minor League Years
Prince Fielder spent the first few years out of high school playing in the minor leagues. In 2004, he was named the Minor League Player of the Year by USA Today while playing for the Huntsville Stars of Double A. In 2005, Prince joined Nashville's Triple A team, but was called up shortly after. Prince made his major league debut with the Brewers on June 13, 2005 against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.Prince Fielder - Something Special
In his first full season in the majors, Prince took full advantage. He hit .271 and knocked out 28 home runs and 81 RBI's. He finished seventh in NL Rookie of the Year voting. As good a season as 2006 was, it was nothing compared to his 2007 campaign. On top of the Brewers winning, Prince has posted MVP-esque numbers. As of September 18, 2007, he was leading the NL in home runs with 46, while hitting .291 and driving in 111 RBI's. At just 23 years old, Prince is one of the most talented and powerful young talents in the league.
