Looks like Simon isn't the only one with a super cool job this summer... I got a part-time gig at this surfboard rental place! Basically all I have to do is take people's money and point them to a pile of surf boards we have. I only work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, which is a perfect amount of time to make a bit of cash. The dude who owns the place says that most business is in the morning and I can just chill and read magazines or books for the rest of the day and wait for everyone to return their boards.
I know there's a potential for being really bored during the days if I don't plan to have something to do, but the idea of talking to hot surfers all summer long is so worth it! And I can just start reading more. I've been meaning to peel myself away from the TV and dig into all those books I hear about on Kidzworld - so this is a perfect excuse.
Of course now I'm going to have to go shopping for a bunch of work clothes (ie. cute bathing suits, shorts, tank tops and flip flops). I wonder if I can talk my mom into lending me money for all that. It's an investment really. If I was working at an office all summer I would need to buy dress clothes, so this is really no different.
I don't start my job until after Independence Day, which is totally cool with me. Amy and I are headed over to Dad's for a July 4th BBQ with a bunch of his work people and their families. It's usually a good time - but it was a lot more fun when Mom and Dad were actually still together.
