We review the new forces in the Alliance and Empire expansion for the Star Wars Miniatures game!
The Star Wars Miniatures game lets you lead Jedi in battle, command Darth Vader and unleash warriors from the Star Wars movies against your friends! The Alliance and Empire expansion set gives you 60 new figures to add to the game, most of them from the 20 year-old Star Wars movies, including Obi-Wan's ghost, a new Jabba to power-up all the figs from the Bounty Hunter set and even the cute and cuddly Ewoks! Here's the scoop on what's up with the set.
Alliance and Empire - Good Guys
The good guys get some great figs in this set, like the Han Solo in Stormtrooper Armor that gives all his allies an awesome ability, the Ithorian Commander who gives hand-to-hand attackers a big boost and the Rebel Commando Strike Leader who gives your team super stealth.Alliance and Empire - Bad Guys
The bad guys get the excellent Admiral Piett and a new Darth Vader. Both figs power-up Stormtroopers into an awesome fighting force, if you can get them!Alliance and Empire - Angry Wookies
Unfortunately, other than a handful of cool figs, there's a lot of ho-hum in this set - a few figs that suck *cough*Biggs Darklighter*cough* and a bunch of figs that are hard to use! Like Luke Skywalker, Hero of Yavin - if you use him properly he's incredible, but make a boo-boo and he's toast.Alliance and Empire - Strong With the Force?
This set has some decent figs, and the Ewoks are a hoot, but it's really... meh. Unless you're a hardcore strategy master and want a ton of Rebel Alliance and Imperial troops that is. For most players the lightsaber-packed Champions of the Force set is way cooler and Bounty Hunters has more figs that can be used on any team.Alliance and Empire Thumbs Up:
