2007 MLS Season Preview
May 01, 2007
Another season of MLS soccer has arrived and there's a lot of reason to be excited. We have your season's preview!
2007 MLS Season - Teams to Watch
L.A. Galaxy - No doubt all eyes are going to be on the Galaxy because of the much anticipated arrival of soccer icon David Beckham. Although Beckham won't arrive until June, his presence should rejuvenate the Galaxy, who had a dismal 2006 season. Landon Donovan is a prime time player and has the ability to take over games. Aside from the big signing of Beckham, LA also signed the best goalie in the league with Joe Cannon.
D.C. United - Last season, the United had the best regular season record, but failed to win the championship. The United spent the off-season making moves to make their team better. They shipped out teen-sensation Freddy Adu to Real Salt Lake, and signed two elite Brazilian stars. Watch for them to be near the top of the standings come year end.
Houston Dynamo - The reigning MLS Cup Champions come into the 2007 season with nearly the exact same squad. Could this great team chemistry mean another trip to the finals?
Toronto FC - The FC are the lone new addition to the MLS family. It will be interesting to see how Canada responds to a soccer franchise and whether this young team can open some eyes.
2007 MLS Preview - Players to Watch
Eddie Johnson - Kansas City striker, Eddie Johnson, struggled on offense last season but he always had elite ability, so if he can get it going, watch out for him to have a nice 2007 season.
Ramon Nunuz - Honduran superstar Ramon Nunez is an ultra-talented midfielder for FC Dallas. This 22-year old came on strong at the end of last season so we expect him to have a breakout year and be amongst the league leaders in goals and assists.
Chauhtemoc Blanco Bravo - First of all, let's give Chauhtemoc some serious props on his cool name! This Mexican soccer icon is one of the most accomplished soccer players in history. His debut with the Chicago Fire is set for July 1, 2007. Watch for this striker to make some noise this summer!
Clint Mathis - Not many players have bounced around the league like Clint has. He is now with his sixth MLS team in just under a decade. But a new change of scenery could mean big results from this scoring machine. He is now with Red Bull New York after getting traded from the Colorado Rapids in March 2007.
