We all know the Cinderella story - the mice, glass slipper, and happily ever after. Only things haven't been so happily-ever-after for our favorite rags-to-riches princess and her friends. We're taking a look at all your fave Cinderella characters, and what they've been up to since the original Cinderella movie hit the big screen way back in 1950.
Characters
Cinderella - When Cinderella is a young girl her mother dies and her father remarries Lady Tremaine (AKA the Wicked Stepmother). When Cinderella's dad dies too, Cinderella becomes a virtual slave to her stepmom and two stepsisters. But after a chance encounter with the Prince, Cinderella's life turns upside down and she must overcome countless obstacles to find her happily ever after.
Prince Charming - Prince Charming is the most eligible bachelor in the entire kingdom who proves he has high standards when he rejects every woman in the kingdom except one - Cinderella. He's a seriously determined guy and will stop at nothing to find his woman and (her perfectly sized foot).
The Mice - Jaq and Gus are Cinderella's BFFs who helped her with her chores when she lived with her Wicked Stepmother and turned into her horses when the fairy godmother sent her to the ball. They accompany her through many other adventures in Cinderella II and III and are always ready to take on Lady Tremaine's cat, Lucifer.
The Step Family - Lady Tremaine is the wickedest of all wicked stepmothers and her daughters, Anastasia and Drizella, are corrupted by her influence. Anastasia later redeems herself, but the rest of the family remains bitter, jealous and downright cruel.
Cinderella II: Dreams Come True
In the first sequel to the classic film, Cinderella learns to cope with her happy ending (after all, even "happily ever after" takes some getting used to). Cinderella spends an awkward first few days at the palace, when she tries so hard to fit in that she forgets to be herself. Jaq feels left out and wishes he was human, and love rules the day when Cinderella teaches a nasty stepsister how to smile, which leads to her finding her own true love.
DVD Features
This Special Edition DVD has some interesting features, including two games you can play using the DVD remote. In the Race to the Royal Banquet game, your goal is to guide Gus and Jaq through three stages in order to help Cinderella at the Banquet. The second game is Cinderella's Enchanted Castle where you help the princess tidy up a room, find an outfit to wear, and bake cookies. Ther's also an interactive storybook where you flip pages and read along, a featurette showing the Musical Magic going on behind the scenes of a movie, and a little music video performed by Brooke Allison. All together, the features aren't too shabby and should provide some extra entertainment for an afternoon, but once you pass each game and see what there is to see, there's not really any reason to play or watch them again.
Cinderella III: A Twist in Time
Cinderella's Wicked Stepmother gets a hold of Fairy Godmother's magic wand and reverses time so that the glass slipper had actually fit on Anastasia's foot. What will happen to Cinderella and will Anastasia ever be happy being married to someone who will never love her? Find out in Cinderella III!
