Dwight Howard - Southern Boy
Dwight Howard was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia - growing up with his Georgia State Trooper father and his teacher mom. Since he was in preschool, Dwight attented Southwest Atlanta Christian School. By the time he was a senior in high school, Dwight had been named the National High School Player of the Year.
Dwight Howard - Pro Career
The Orlando Magic made Dwight the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. He was named to the All Rookie Team and was the youngest player in history to average over 10 points and 10 rebounds in a season. In the 2005-06 season, Dwight pulled down an amazing 26 rebounds in a single game versus the Philadelphia 76ers! Dwight's play dramatically improved and he was named to the 2007 NBA All Star Team. He has been compared to a young Tim Duncan because of his rebounding ability and offensive skills. He was also named ESPN's NEXT athlete of 2007.
Dwight Howard - Olympian
Dwight was named to the US National Team that won a bronze medal in the 2006 FIBA World Championships in Japan. It was that summer where he really grew as a player and took his game to the next level. Dwight also committed to the national team 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Dwight Howard - Superman
In 2008, Dwight won the NBA Dunk Contest with one of the most impressive slam dunks ever. Dwight started at half court and took a full-speed running start and leapt into the air like Superman, flying like a bird to the rim. He even wore a red cape to make the whole thing more amazing!
