EA vs. Tony Hawk and Viva Pinata Special Edition Info!

Dec 27, 2006

Sony and Nintendo are gearing up to bring you the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii in time for Christmas and we have the scoop on the Wii right here! This week's gaming news also has the 411 on the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon video games for GBA and DS. Check out all the buzz below, and don't forget to peek at the list of new video games that drop this week!

Free Xbox 360 Games with Viva Piata!

Viva Piata is an animated TV show about a bunch of fun-loving, candy-filled piata critters who live on an island when they aren't at parties. It's also going to be a video game for the Xbox 360 in November 2006. You'll be able to attract up to 60 different kinds of piata to your piata garden and show them off to your friends online over Xbox Live!

There's also a limited Viva Piata special edition you'll be able to grab for $49.99 US that includes a bunch of extra stuff. Here's the list!

  • LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy game demo.
  • Frogger game demo.
  • Cloning Clyde game demo.
  • Time Pilot game demo.
  • Marble Blast game demo.
  • A sneak peek at the Viva Piata TV show.
  • Electronic Arts Takes on Tony Hawk!

The biggest video game company in the world is going head-to-head with the greatest skater ever! Tony Hawk's skating video games have been 'da bomb for years and his upcoming Tony Hawk's Project 8 game for PS3 and Xbox 360 sounds cooler every day. But, EA is working on their own skateboarding video game. They're calling it SKATE and it's for PS3 and Xbox 360 too. EA's giving Tony Hawk's games a serious diss too, calling their skating action button mashing gameplay and saying that SKATE's unique physics-driven control scheme captures the true feel of skateboarding.

Big words from EA! Think they'll be able to knock the Hawk off his throne?
