One Piece: Grand Adventure Gamecube & PS2 Game Review

Dec 27, 2006

The animated adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates have jumped ship and landed on the Gamecube and Playstation 2 with the new One Piece: Grand Adventure video game! Gary went sailing with the pirates in search of adventure, excitement and a really good video game. Check out what he found with his game review!

Pirate Adventure with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates

The One Piece: Grand Adventure game is, basically a fighting game with some extra bits added on. You start playing as Luffy and battle your way from town to town in search of a crew and the fabled One Piece treasure. You can unlock the other characters from the anime TV show, play mini-games, have multiplayer fights and more!

One Piece: Grand Adventure - Pirate Treasure What's really nice is that this game is easy to play, and once you learn how to pull the special moves for one character, you know them for all the characters! The graphics are solid, and you earn points in each battle that you can use to power-up your characters.

One Piece: Grand Adventure - Bad News and Sunken Ships!

The worst part about this anime-based video game is that it feels like it's missing something. There just aren't enough modes or options to make it really awesome. You also get a lot of repetition in the battles, and they're more about randomly slamming buttons than about using skill to win. It's fun at first, but gets old fast.

One Piece: Grand Adventure - Treasure or Trash?

If you're a fan of the One Piece anime, this game is worth checking out. It's also a fun game to rent for a party cuz it's so easy to play. But, it starts to stink after just a couple of days. If you're digging a serious anime fighting game, check out Naruto: Ultimate Ninja or Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 instead.
