Dreamer: Inspired By a True Story is about a broken-down racehorse trainer and his broken-down racehorse. Read Kidzworld's review to find out if you should check out this new flick starring Dakota Fanning!
Dreamer - Picking Up the Broken Pieces
The
Crane family lives on the only horse farm in Kentucky that doesn't actually have a
horse in the barn. Dad (Kurt Russell) is busy working as a
racehorse trainer, mom works in a diner and Cale (Dakota Fanning) dreams of nothing more than to
spend some time with her dad. Her
dream starts to come true when one of the horses that her dad trains
gets injured in a race. Cale takes one look at
Sonador (it's Spanish for "dreamer"), nicknamed Sonya for short, and convinces her dad to nurse her back to health.
Dreamer - Dare to Dream
Cale forms a close
friendship with Sonya by bringing her
cherry popsicles and chocolate cake. When Sonya is fully healed, the Cranes realize that she can race again and dream of entering her in the
Breeders' Cup Classic. Dreamer is your typical
underdog sports story, so the ending won't shock you. But, it'll definitely pull at your heartstrings. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll cheer for the
little girl with big dreams of helping her dad with a broken
spirit and her horse with a broken leg.
Dreamer - Bottom Line
Like the title suggests, Dreamer is an
inspiring movie, but it also has its fair share of cheesy moments. But, we all need a little
cheese in
our diets once in awhile, so we recommend that you check out this
feel-good flick with the fam before it races out of the theater.
