B5 is a soulful band of brothers made up of Dustin, Kelly, Patrick, Carnell and Bryan Breeding. Their self-titled debut album is hitting shelves on July 19, 2005. Check out my interview with the guys who are being called the next generation's Jackson Five!
Sindy: Hey guys! What are you up to?
B5: Hey! Just chillin'.
Sindy: The first thing I want to know is why you changed your name from TNT Boyz to B5.
B5 (Bryan): It was called TNT cuz it was just the four of them cuz I wasn't even in the group then, but then when this guy said I should be in the group, we named it B5. How we got the name B5 was, our last name is Breeding and when I got in the group, everybody kept saying it was like Jackson Five. They're called J5 so we're called B5.
Sindy: How do you guys feel about being compared to groups like Jackson Five and *NSYNC?
B5: It's great to be compared to a legend like them. They're like the hottest thing on Earth. It's a good thing to be compared to them.
Sindy: Does being brothers make you a better musical group?
B5: Yeah! And plus, we'll never break up - never! It helps because the chemistry with us is just natural and I think everybody sees that. Like when we're on stage and everything, it just flows real nice and we know what each other is about to do. It's like psychic stuff.
Sindy: When it comes to your personalities, how are you similar and how are you different?
B5: Our personalities are all kinda the same cuz we all act stupid all the time, we all try to be funny... we are funny!
Sindy: Who's the funniest?
B5: Patrick tries to be the funniest one. Patrick just acts stupid all the time, always makes faces.
Sindy: So Dustin, as the oldest brother, do you naturally look after your brothers in the music business?
B5: Yeah, automatically I'm going to look after my brothers just cuz I'm the oldest one. I'm going to watch out for them and stuff. We all do pretty good, we all look out for one another. We love each other.
Sindy: Does being from Atlanta, the home of crunk, influence your style of music at all?
B5: Yeah. Our album, we got some real tight songs on there, some fast-paced songs that girls and everybody can dance to, but it ain't like Lil' John crunk!
Sindy: What can fans expect from your debut album that's coming out on July 19th?
B5: They can expect great things! The album's real cool. It's got 12 hot tracks. We worked with a lot of different producers on there, a lot of good ones. It's got a lot of different variety too. I don't think no fan will be disappointed with our album.
Sindy: What's your fave song on the album?
B5: I like all the songs! My favorite song is U Got Me cuz it's so crazy, has an up-tempo track that everybody can dance to. And I like So Pretty.
