Fever Pitch DVD Review

Dec 27, 2006

When Lindsey Meeks meets Ben the school teacher, it seems like she's found the perfect catch. But that's before she finds out his deep dark secret. Ben is a Red Sox fan. Not just your run of the mill, baseball fan, but an obsessive fanatic. Ben's house is plastered with Red Sox paraphenalia, he bases his whole life around games and he's eager to share his Red Sox obsession with Lindsey. Does this movie hit a grand slam or does it strike out? Read on to find out!

Fever Pitch - Home Run

Lindsey and Ben start out having a normal relationship - he's romantic, she's cute and it looks like they're a match made in heaven. But soon baseball season rolls around and it's a whole new ballgame. Ben turns into a whole new person who's more interested in catching a Yankees game than spending time with his girlfriend. Lindsey gets stressed trying to balance her hectic work schedule and her new found evening baseball schedule. As Lindsey tries to be supportive of Ben and his love of the game, some pretty hilarious situations arise. How does she explain to her parents that the crazy guy on TV ranting about the Red Sox is her new BF? And will she ever want to go to another baseball game again after being knocked unconcious by a foul ball? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.

Fever Pitch - Foul Balls

While there are some cheesy parts in Fever Pitch, for the most part it is a funny and heart-warming flick. Watching Ben and Lindsey get together has a real-life vibe, cuz Ben is really shy and awkward - never saying the right thing. It's not like most Hollywood romances where everyone always has the perfect lines and the does the exact right thing at the exact right time. Lindsey and Ben both make mistakes, and fumble through it the best they can.

Fever Pitch - Bottom Line

Fever Pitch is a really cute movie that will make you laugh, and maybe even shed a few tears. Jimmy Fallon is super cute and Drew Barrymore is as loveable as ever. If you like baseball, or better yet, the Red Sox, you'll also dig this movie. Even those unfamiliar with the game will learn a thing or two - just like Lindsey does!

Fever Pitch - DVD Features

This romantic comedy starring Jimmy Falon and Drew Barrymore is worth picking up on DVD for the movie alone - but lucky for you it also comes with some great extras. Check out more than a dozen deleted scenes that are just as funny as the rest of the movie and play through featurettes that explore the Curse of the Bambino a little more thoroughly.
