PlayStation 5 Price and Release Date Revealed!
Plus more new games coming in the near future and beyond.
Sep 16, 2020At long last, we now know when you can expect the PlayStation 5, and for how much. We also have a few new game announcements share as well!
Final Fantasy XVI
Yesterday’s PS5 stream started with the announcement of the next Final Fantasy. FFXVI (or 16) is returning to the series’ medieval fantasy roots and has a much darker tone than FFXV. The game looks stunning, with over the top combat, devious beasts, and fantastical kingdoms to explore.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales
A larger chunk of gameplay was shown for the follow-up of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales. The rookie hero is tasked with saving civilians caught between the forces of the Tinkerer. There will be a special, remastered version of the original game to enjoy as well with full 60 fps gameplay, the visual improvements from Miles Morales, and all DLC packaged in.
Hogwarts Legacy
Finally, a fully-fledged RPG set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the late 1800s and sees your created character going through the magical classes of Hogwarts and the dangers beyond!
Five Nights at Freddys Security Breach
A brand new chapter in the haunting Five Nights at Freddy’s series is coming to PS5.
Fortnite
Battle Royale giant Fortnite is arriving day one on PS5 with brand new ray-tracing, animations, and graphics.

Finally, the Price
- Let’s get right to it.
- For the default PS5 with a physical disc drive: $499 (US) & $629.99 (CAD)
- For the all-digital disc-less console: $399 (US) & $499.99 (CAD)
- For comparison, the Xbox Series X is launching for $499 as well, with the smaller Series S coming in at $299. The Series S is less powerful than the S, compared to the all-digital version of the PS5 only removing the disc drive so that is where the price difference comes in.
The Release Date
In the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, PS5 launches on November 12th. Everywhere else can get the console on November 19th. You can pre-order starting now if you’re quick enough!
One More Thing
God of War: Ragnorok, the sequel to 2018's epic, is coming next year. A great surprise!
