Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition Announced
Revisit the battlefields of a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Dec 09, 2019Star Wars Battlefront II was quite a different experience when it launched back in 2017. When it released, it had a short single-player campaign that fairly lackluster, and the multiplayer was full of intrusive microtransactions. The loot box system had gone away for a time in response to the huge backlash from players (that even had some world governments looking into them), but the game has since been steered in a much more enjoyable direction. Despite the more than rocky start, Battlefront II has received steady updates and is now a pretty good Star Wars multiplayer experience. The number of unlockable costumes numbers is over a hundred, with even more emotes and voice lines being able to be unlocked to customize your trooper, Jedi, or Starfighter. All of that will be available right out of the gate in the new Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition that compiles all the numerous updates to cosmetic gear, maps, and heroes in one package. It recently got Instant Action mode, so fans that just want to play by themselves can experience the fun too.
What is Included in Celebration Edition?
Celebration Edition is launching digitally on both consoles and PC. The main draw is getting the huge amount of already added content to the game, but there is more coming on the way.
- 25 Hero Appearance Modes so your Bounty Hunters, Jedi, and scoundrels can look their best.
- Over 125 Trooper and Reinforcement Appearance Options to show your loyalty to your favorite legions.
- More than 100 Emotes and Voice Lines to annoy your friends with.
- More than 70 Victory Poses to show how awesome you are.
Before, you would have to grind for hours to get these unlocks, but with each of them being available from the start, you’ll be able to customize your troopers and heroes to exactly the way you want and get right into the action. The Clone Troopers have so many different options now, with many of the famous legions from the "Clone Wars" series being playable in the game. Add in the vast array of heroes and their unique looks, and that’s a whole lot of Star Wars themed dress up at your disposal in Celebration Edition.
Rise of Skywalker Updates
Star Wars Battlefront II lets you take the fight across three eras of the Star Wars saga. The Clone Wars, Original Trilogy, and Sequel Trilogy are all available to play in, and new maps and characters are going to be added from Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker as well.
- Currently unnamed jungle planet and Jakku maps.
- Sith Trooper Reinforcement for the First Order.
- First Order Jet Trooper.
- Gunner and Spy troops for the Resistance.
- New appearance options for Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren based on the film.
If all these weren’t enough reasons to give the game another chance, BB-8 (and his First Order counterpart BB-9E) are going to be playable as heroes for the first time. If you have ever wanted to take down Stormtroopers as a rolling ball, it is nearly your time. Celebration Edition makes quite the compelling argument to jump into the game for the first time again, or check back in if you haven’t played in a while. From the vast customization options to the promise of even more update support down the line, one of the most infamous launches in gaming’s history might have had a chance to redeem itself.
