We’ve got hot tips on how to end summer on a high note, but how can you make sure you start the school year strong? When you’ve got a new grade, new teachers, and new friends to look forward to, read on for how to put your best foot forward!
First Day of School Outfit
Arguably one of the most important elements of starting the school year well is assembling an ensemble that makes a great first impressions on both teachers and peers. So what goes into such an outfit? Three things: 1) make sure you are comfortable! When you feel good in what you wear, it makes you more confident. 2) choose something that reflects your personality. It’s a great way to connect with others! and 3) pick it out the night before so you don’t have to stress over how you look the morning of class!
Meet Your Teachers
We know, it’s hard walking up to someone you don’t know and introducing yourself, but believe us, just saying hi and giving your name to a new teacher on the first day will place you miles ahead. It helps the teacher know who you are right away, shows an interest in their class, and is just plain polite!
Pack a Lunch
After you’re done figuring out what to wear, be sure to pack a lunch and some snacks for the big day. Maybe an extra pack of fruit snacks will help you make a new friend with someone who isn’t as prepared as you! And if you’re a hot lunch kind of kid, then make sure you keep your money in a safe place like a wallet or inner pocket of your backpack!
School Supplies
A week or two before classes resume, go over your school supply list and head to the store or order things online. Still have leftover notebooks and binders from last year? Reuse them! Plus, if you have old notes, it’ll help keep you up to speed after a few months out of the classroom.
Summer Homework
If you’re a procrastinator (not us…we would never leave anything until the last minute…) be sure to buckle down and get that summer reading and writing done in time! Plus, it’ll help prepare you to get back into good study and homework habits.
Go to Bed Early
Not like crazy early… just enough to get your eight hours of sleep. You want to feel rested and ready to go on one of the most important days of the year! Which brings us to…
Set Your Alarm!!!!
We’ve all been late because we forgot to set an alarm to wake up on time. Don’t let it be on the first day of school! Pick a time that will give you a few minutes to wake up, time to eat a healthy breakfast, get ready and out the door without feeling rushed.
