How on earth did we end up here in August so fast? Seems like just yesterday we were packing up our lockers and putting away our books for a couple months of summer fun.
Whether or not you have checked everything off your summer bucket list (everyone has those, right?!), here at Kidzworld, we’ve got a few more great ideas on how to end summer on a high note. Enjoy those last few weeks before school starts and read on!
Go For a Sunrise Hike
You don’t have to live somewhere mountainous to enjoy a sunrise hike. Find a local natural area, beach, hill, or open field to enjoy the sun coming up over the horizon. Sure, you’ll have to set your alarm early, but it will be well worth the early rise. If you need extra motivation for getting out of bed in the dark, pack a breakfast picnic the night before so you’ll have something yummy to munch on while enjoying the best nature has to offer!
Get That Homework Done
Okay, this one might not scream “FUN!” but trust us, it’ll ease any stress you have if you chip away at summer assignments or reading you have rather than putting them off until the last minute. Just set aside twenty minutes a day to get a little work done, and then you can go back to hanging out with your friends and family.
End of Summer BBQ
Grill. Check. Music. Check. Games. Check. An end of summer bbq has something for everyone. Take a look at our ideas for the perfect bbq over here!
Pool Party
Nothing helps beat the heat like a pool party. Grab your flamingo floaties, a cooler full of snacks, and your sunscreen and gather everyone up for one last hurrah. Don’t have a pool? Grab the hose and set up a wading pool or sprinklers, or better yet, take advantage of nature’s pool and set up at a lake or creek, just be sure to be safe out there!
Sleep In
If I remember correctly, the whole point of summer vacation is to sleep in as late as possible. Okay… maybe that’s not entirely true, but we all work so hard between homework, sports, theatre, band, and every other activity and hobby that getting one more good sleep-in this summer is more than earned.
Read Outside
Listen, it’s an oldie but a goodie. Whether it’s an assigned book or one you love to read for fun, take it outside and plop under a tree just like people have done for centuries.
Host a Sleepover
Sleepovers are tough to fit in on a school night, so be sure to pick out a great movie, pop the popcorn and line up your sleeping bags in a row one last time this break.
Fit In One More Trip
Whether you love to camp with friends or get out of town with your family, there is still time to fit in one last trip before school starts. Get out there and explore the world with people you love!
