One of the oldest names in gaming is still the best to this day.

While many players are taking sides between Xbox and PlayStation, Nintendo seems to be the one company that always has the most love. Sure it's the internet so you'll find some negativity, but it's hard to find a longtime gamer who doesn't hold some strong love for the hardware and software made by the Big N. What exactly makes Nintendo so special?
Nintendo's Long Legacy
The first place Nintendo has an obvious leg up on the competition is with their legacy, being the company behind one of the first at home consoles, families have been somewhat familiar with Nintendo since the 80s. That's not just a familiarity with the console or controllers but the many, many beloved characters and franchises running on their machines. Zelda, Pokémon, and, the most famous character in the world, Mario make up some of Nintendo's roster and they've been in games for decades at this point. And Nintendo has had a mostly clean history of cranking out quality games, with a few missteps here and there. Nintendo games are often some of the very best titles out there and while the competition may focus on cinematic stories or mature themes, Nintendo has a lineage of family-friendly products that center around fun gameplay.
Making More Mario - Kidzworld Weekly News
Not only does Nintendo have a respectable legacy, but they also show that respect in their new games. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate could only work from a company like Nintendo, Super Mario Odyssey is full of nods to Mario's classic games, and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was made based on the same ideas behind the very first Zelda on the first Nintendo Entertainment System. While many companies completely ignore the games that made them famous, Nintendo constantly shows as much respect to its past as its players do. Now, let's hope they respect them enough to bring even more of those awesome classics to the Switch.
Turning the Ship Around
Gamers are always rooting for Nintendo, even if they make mistakes. The Wii U was an underwhelming machine and the Wii's lack of power kept the games looking visually dated compared to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. While Nintendo had a bit of a dark era in the eyes of the hardcore players, they still had a lot of love from their community and with the recent success of the Nintendo Switch it really feels like they're back on the path to greatness. With the recent release of Super Mario Maker 2, Nintendo seems like they're not stopping anytime soon and we can expect great games in the foreseeable future. Of course, there is still plenty of room to improve in regards to their online service but Nintendo has proven that they're here to stay and the world of video games is definitely better off for their presence.
