With Avengers: Endgame kicking off the summer movie season (or maybe Captain Marvel if you consider summer movies starting in March), we are ready to curl up in the cool air conditioning with a bucket of popcorn and take in some of the best films of the year. Here’s a look at some of the big flicks that you won’t want to miss in theaters!
May Movies
Last week UglyDolls (rated PG) came out, and you know we got tickets to see our favorite toys on the big screen. Featuring some of the biggest names in music, you might recognize the voices of Kelly Clarkson, Pitbull, Blake Shelton, Janelle Monae, Lizzo, and of course, Nick Jonas.

If you don’t already know that Pokémon Detective Pikachu (rated PG) is out now, then maybe you need to climb out from under the poké ball you’ve been living under. This love letter to Pokémon fans starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith is sure to be a blast!
If you loved 2017’s A Dog’s Purpose, then you’ll probably want to grab your human best friend and go to A Dog’s Journey (rated PG) when it comes out May 17th. This is a must see for all the dog lovers out there!
Based on the popular novel, The Sun is Also a Star comes out May 17th. This PG-13 modern romance stars Yara Shahidi from Grown-ish and Charles Melton from "Riverdale". Stay tuned for our review next week.
Animated classic Aladdin (rated PG) gets the live-action treatment, flying into theaters on a magic carpet May 24th. We’ve been granted three wishes and all of them are to see this movie on opening night.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters roars into cinemas on May 31st. It’s rated PG-13 and stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Wantanabe, and "Stranger Things’" Millie Bobby Brown.
June Flicks
Our favorite pets are back on June 7th in The Secret Life of Pets 2 (rated PG). Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Jenny Slate, and Eric Stonestreet are back and these pets are up to new shenanigans.
It’s been seven years since the last MIB came out, but the franchise is alive and well with Men in Black International debuting on June 14th. With Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth taking over for Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as secret agents dealing with all things alien on Earth, this movie is sure to be out of this world. MIB International is not yet rated, but the first three movies were all PG-13.
Toy Story 4. I mean, do we really need to explain this one? All three are iconic and the fourth installment is sure to be just as legendary. Rated G, you can catch it June 21st.

July Features
Another month, another Marvel movie. Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out July 2nd, and we can’t wait to find out what Peter Parker is up to after his awesome return in Spider-Man: Homecoming and the Avengers movies. This movie is not yet rated, but Homecoming was PG-13.
Another one from the Disney vault, the live-action The Lion King hits the big screen July 19th. It is not yet rated, but the animated original was G, and stars an epic cast including Beyonce and Donald Glover.

August Films
Dora and the Lost City of Gold (not yet rated) bounds into theaters August 2nd with a backpack full of surprises.

And finally, The Angry Birds Movie 2 makes its landing August 16th. This film isn’t rated yet, but the first was PG.
