Maybe you had the best summer ever and are dreading returning to school. Maybe your summer was just okay and you look forward to being busy again with school work and activities. Regardless, we all know, it can be so hard to return to school after summer. In some ways it feels like your freedom is being taken away, but despite this notion, there are some perks to going back to school.
It’s Good to Switch it Up
We can’t let our brains slip away from us and get lazy but, it is good to put our brains to use. The brain is a muscle and like any other muscle it needs to be exercised. School will get your brain back in the game as you re-start the process of learning new concepts, equations and information.
It’s good to switch it up, and move from relaxation to education because even if you are in school, you can still find time to relax. This will be a good balance for you. Try to find a balance between work and play.
You Can Start Your Fall Activates
The fall brings a fresh start for everyone. It also gives you the opportunity to start fall activates and sports that you missed over the summer. It also gives you the chance to try something new. Maybe something you were too scared or shy to try out last year. There is no time like the present.
You Can Out Do Yourself
Scholastically, you can out do yourself. This could be your year to get the grades that you really deserve. The grades that express your true potential. Even if you don’t go for the honor roll, maybe you can show improvements, and for some of you this might just be doing your work, getting your homework done and getting your assignments in on time. For some students they put their social life before their studies and this could be the year to find some symmetry with this. This could be the year to put school first and reward yourself with fun things once your work is done.
You can also out do yourself by doing something you never thought that you would do. For example, trying out for a school play or trying to make the basketball team. Even if you don’t make it, or get a part, at least you went for it, and this builds both confidence and strength.
You Can Rekindle with Old Friends & Make up with Old Friends
Not only do you get to see everyone you didn’t over the summer, but you have the chance to make-up with anybody who you had beef with before the summer. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing, and we encourage you to exercise it. There is already so much hate in the world why promote it?
If there is a teacher or person you really missed this will be your chance to rekindle with them. Sometimes friends don’t see each other over the summer, and returning back to school reunites them.
You Can Start Fresh
Say you made a bad impression on someone last year, well this can be your time to start-over, and make a new impression. It might be the time to say sorry, as perhaps you’ve matured over summer. You can also start fresh in the classroom by paying attention and participating in class discussions.
You Can Get Back on a Schedule
The beauty of summer is that you can stay up late and sleep in, but it’s also beneficial to get on a schedule. Routine is good for your life. It’s nice to know what you’ll be doing, where you’ll be doing it and when you'll be doing it. Schedule can increase our level of success by allowing us to make good use of our time. Getting back on schedule will let you know when you have free time, and when your busy doing something that you enjoy like taking a dance class or playing a sport. Fall and winter sports are greatly favored and this is a great time to start up the season again.
Some kids actually love returning to school because they love school. This does not make them nerds. It is perfectly healthy to love a challenging environment destine to help mold you into who you want to be. School helps you learn what it is that you want to do when you grow up. Even if there are many who still have no idea, school will at least teaches you which subjects you enjoy taking and which you are not a fan of. Finishing school is important to your future so try to put on a happy face. There will be professional days, and other holidays, which will give you a break from the downside of school. Regardless, it’s all up to you and how you decide to embrace it. Remember it is always better to be positive so don’t dread returning to school, sit back and think of all that you’ll be gaining from it.
