Every month Sony and Microsoft release a slew of "free" games on their respective platforms if you are already paying for an online subscription for either company. You don't need the newest console to take part either as both PlayStation Plus and Xbox's Games With Gold offer games on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (and even PlayStation Vita.)
The New Games of PlayStation Plus
Starting Tuesday, February 7th you can get these upcoming games for free if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription.
- LittleBigPlanet 3 (PlayStation 4)
- Not a Hero (PlayStation 4)
- Starwhal (PlayStation 3, Cross Buy with PlayStation 4)
- Anna - Extended Edition (PlayStation 3)
- Ninja Senki DX (PlayStation Vita, Cross Buy with PlayStation 4)
- TorqueL (PlayStation Vita, Cross Buy with PlayStation 4)
Some quality, QUALITY, games for February. One of PlayStation's biggest franchises hits PlayStation Plus this month alongside a release from one of the best indie developers out there.
LittleBigPlanet 3 is the final entry in the creative, platformer series. The franchise was created by Media Molecule but this entry was developed by Sumo Digital. While this game focuses on throwing new characters into the mix, the series' tenants of "Play, Create, Share" are more refined than ever. Critically it was weaker than previous entries but this doesn't make it a bad entry to the PlayStation Plus lineup. The next big game comes from OlliOlli's developer Roll7. Not a Hero is a quick cover based shooter with a retro style, similar to the aforementioned OlliOlli series. While it's a quality game I should mention that it is rated M for mature by the ESRB.

The New Game of Xbox's Games With Gold
Since Wednesday, February 1st you can access the first wave of games on Xbox One and Xbox 360, if you have a Gold subscription on Xbox.
- Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Xbox One)
- Monkey Island 2: Special Edition (Xbox 360 & Backwards Compatible on Xbox One)
The second wave of games begins on Thursday, February 16th.
- Project Cars Digital Edition (Xbox One)
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Xbox 360 & Backwards Compatible on Xbox One)
February's Xbox Games With Gold
A good assortment of games with a lot of different range. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is an indie game that's starting to get a lot of people talking, a puzzle game with multiple characters. In a move that I've referenced a handful of times before, a Tim Schafer series is yet again one of the free games this month. Monkey Island 2: Special Edition returns players to the pirating adventure gaming world.
Project Cars Digital Edition is the ultimate racing simulator. Every bit of the game is customizable from cars to tires, so if you like a racing game with some serious depth then you've come to the right place. It's far from a perfect game but Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a Star Wars game that has players forcing their way through the Star Wars world with some exciting third person action.
My Winner This Month:
Almost another tie but I would have to say PlayStation Plus takes the cake for me, almost entirely for LittleBigPlanet 3. It's a great game with a lot of replayability, however I still think Xbox has a really great month and one with the greater assortment of games.
