E3 is almost here and there's a lot of big news coming up soon. The week before E3 is so full of news it may as well be E3 itself. This Pre-E3 (PrE3) has had information about Watch Dogs 2 and the spiritual successor to Saints Row.
Volition Reveals Agents of Mayhem
Saints Row developer Volition revealed their new game via IGN's First. The new game is definitely similar to Volition's games of the past. Agent's of Mayhem is a single player experience in an open world city. Doctor Babylon has taken over the city and you'll play as one of three revealed characters to fight back for your organization, the eponymous Agents of Mayhem. Though not much has been shown off yet we've seen a lengthy cinematic trailer and IGN plans to show off more of the game over the month of June. Who knows, we may potentially see Agents of Mayhem at E3.
The game is certainly similar to the Saints Row games. The style seems crazy and over the top, and they're reportedly going for an action/comedy mix. I've never been a massive fan of the previous games, but I'm excited to see what else they have to show off. Though the logo does call back Saints Row, maybe they're in the same universe?
Watch Dogs 2 Is Official
After months of leaks and rumors it's official, Watch Dogs 2 is coming on November 15, 2016 and will take place in San Francisco. You'll be playing as Marcus, to replace the original game's protagonist: Aiden Pearce. The new character is more agile and features a stronger emphasis on parkour. The game has a lighter tone than the original and plans to have your character more involved in the world. The Watch Dogs series features hacking as the main gameplay mechanic to interact with your surroundings. You have the ability to hack into cars, traffic lights, cell phones, ATMs, and more.
Watch Dogs 2 will be releasing quickly after the game, which is a definite opposite from the first game's release. We saw multiple E3 demos, several downgrades, and a disappointing final release. This quick release cycle couldn't hurt the game and seems to hint at a quicker turnover from announcement to release with most big games.
