Sunset Overdrive: First Gameplay Footage

May 09, 2014

Note: Sunset Overdrive is Not Yet Rated

Insomniac Games have a well respected resume. They were the original creators and developers of Spyro The Dragon on PS1 before bringing to life the fun and much adored Ratchet & Clank series on PS2 and PS3. They are also behind the Resistance trilogy on Sony's third console.

Now, Insomniac Games is nearing completion of their latest brain child. Sunset Overdrive, coming exclusively to Xbox One this Fall. And wow, does it look like a bright, beautiful and colorful world to go nuts in. Don't believe us? Watch the zany and absolutely gorgeous debut gameplay trailer below.

Sunset Overdrive allows you to create you own custom character before unleashing you into the futuristic open-world of Sunset City. Your mission? Survive the "awesomepocalypse" by splattering the crazed mutant citizens all over the walls and escape the city alive. There's a lot of fun stuff on display in the above trailer including the T-N-Teddy and other over-the-top weapons Insomniac are known for, not too mention the "Next-Gen Respawns" which are so ridiculous (in the best way). Is that a zombie driving that Van?

Kidzworld will be on hand at E3 this year, so expect some more coverage of Sunset Overdrive in the near future. In the meantime, check out a few screenshots below to get a closer, more detailed look at the characters and world of this epic looking video game.
