Are you a fan of Greek mythology and the tales of ancient Greece? Then why not pick up a copy of the book Quiver, the tale of Atlanta the huntress, by Stephanie Spinner?
Author: Stephanie Spinner
Atlanta is the fastest and swiftest hunter in all of ancient Greece. Abandoned as a baby by her father, Atlanta is found by a group of hunters who raise her as their own. She is forever thankful to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and mistress of the wild, for helping to save her when she was a baby.
The Vow
She takes a vow of chastity (which means she plans to never lose her virginity,) and in turn, she plans to never marry. But things go astray when the Greek gods begin to interfere with young Atlanta's life.
The Challenge
When she is 16, Atlanta's father decides to reclaim her as his own. He turns out to be the king of Arcadia and is eager to marry Atlanta off so she can bear him a grandson to take over his thrown. Afraid she will have to break her vow of chastity, Atlanta agrees to be married, but only if two conditions are met; Her suitor must accept a challenge to race her, and if he loses, he must die.
The Bottom Line
Quiver tells Atlanta's tale in a way that is very captivating. There are twists and turns that completely took me by surprise, making it a book I couldn't put down. If Greek mythology is something that fascinates you, or you're looking for a romantic, page-turning tale, then you should definitely give Quiver a read.
