Dynamic Duo
Icona Pop is made up of Caroline Hjekt and Aino Jawo. The duo got combined forces after meeting at a party in 2009. They immediately clicked and realized they had similar musical tastes and goals. Within a month of meeting they began to make music and start performing together.
Festival Favorites
They began to grow their fan base by making many live appearances in Sweden and other parts of Europe. In 2012 they went on a festival tour and performed at multiple festivals including Summerburst. In November 2012 Icona Pop released their first full-length album.
Girls
Icona Pop grew in popularity in Europe but still hadn’t broken through mainstream radio in North America. But, all of that changed when their song “I Love It” was played in an episode of Lena Dunham’s TV show Girls. The song became an instant anthem for single girls everywhere.
