The Worms Collection has already been out in Europe for a long time, but will finally reach North American shores on May 21st, 2013. The collection includes three games that were previously only available via download: Worms 2007, Worms 2: Armageddon, and Worms: Ultimate Mayhem. Additionally, the six free DLC packs for Worms 2: Armageddon can be installed directly off of the disc without downloading anything.
Explosive Strategies
If you have never played Worms before, here's how it works: every player or AI controls a team of worms that are armed with various wacky weapons. The goal of the game is to completely destroy your opponent's worms. As you attack with your weapons, you will also destroy parts of the environment. Part of the strategy in the game is to trap your opponent's worms in deep holes and to blast away the supports of a shelter, causing it to cave in on whoever is hiding in it. Some worms have special items or abilities, such as the Ninja Rope, which can help them out of sticky situations or get them to an advantageous position.
Typically, players take turns moving and attacking with their worms. There is a time limit on turns so you need to think fast and act quicker. Worms can be played against the computer AI, but it is best to find a friend and try to blast each other away.
Triple Threat
Worms 2007 is a very good introduction to the series and Worms 2: Armageddon is the direct sequel. Both games are the classic 2D while Worms: Ultimate Mayhem is in 3D and features slightly different gameplay because of the third dimension. If you enjoyed Worms in the past, or if you are looking for something fun to play with friends, check out the game when it comes out later this month!
