Born in Melbourne, Australia, Liam grew up in a family full of actors! His older brothers Luke and Chris are also in the biz, but Liam says vying for parts between them has always been happy and supportive: “We are brothers and we are always competitive, but it is a good thing, it pushes us and we are always happy whenever someone books something”
When Liam was just 8 years old the family moved to the small community of Phillip Island, where the brothers spent a lot of time surfing and enjoying the sun.
Floors to Film
Liam went out to his first audition at the age of 16, and it wasn’t long after his high school graduation that he realised that acting was the life for him, but before he had settled on acting, he spent some time laying down floors as a career. He first started out with small roles on Australian shows like Home and Away and McLeod’s Daughters, but pretty soon people wanted to see on TV more than once in awhile!
Liam got his big break on an Australian soap opera

Liam’s big break came when he got the part of Josh Taylor, an athlete with disabilities, on the Australian soap opera called Neighbours, and later he played a rock star on kid’s TV show called The Elephant Princess. After that, films were his next challenge, so he and his brother Chris packed their bags and moved to the United States.
Liam fell in love with Miley while filming The Last Song

Unfortunately after landing a part in The Expendables, he was written out of the script last minute, as well as having his brother Chris beat him out for the lead in the action film Thor, but quickly after these let-downs he landed the lead role opposite his now girlfriend Miley Cyrus in her movie The Last Song, and also in her music video for “When I Look At You.” He and Miley won the Australian Kids Choice Award for Best Kiss and he was named one of The Next Generation of Leading Men by Details magazine. He’s proved he’s leading man material and has had non-stop offers since, including playing Gale in the Hunger Games Trilogy!
