British spies, international espionage, and a World Grand Prix! You’ll find it all in Cars 2, which hit theaters on June 24, 2011.
The World Grand Prix
In Cars 2, race car Lightning McQueen’s (Owen Wilson) best pal, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), takes center stage. Lightning McQueen is invited to race in the World Grand Prix, sponsored by the creator of a new, energy-efficient oil called Allinol. He invites Mater, a rusty tow truck, along for the ride. But what begins as a chance to travel to places like Japan, Italy and England, quickly turns deadly.
Becoming An International Spy
After being mistaken for an American spy, Mater gets caught in the middle of an espionage assignment. He works alongside an expert British spy and his rookie partner, who are attempting to uncover the mastermind behind an evil plan. Someone has created a camera that can heat up Allinol so that the race cars burn out on the tracks. But too much heat could cause the death of some cars, and Lightning McQueen is their final target.
The Bottom Line
Cars 2 is just as entertaining as the first Cars film. However, Mater is funnier in small doses. So having him as the main character proved a little exhausting. The plot offers great action scenes and a nice twist at the end. Tell us what you thought of Cars 2 in our comments section below! And if you haven't seen it yet, check out the Cars 2 movie trailer:
