Owen Wilson voices the race car Lightning McQueen in the new Disney/Pixar movie Cars. Read Kidzworld review of the DVD!
Disney and Pixar team up once again to bring you the animated flick, Cars. Find out if this latest movie lives up to some of Pixar's previous projects or if you're better off renting Finding Nemo again.
Cars - Fast-Paced Fun
Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) is a hotshot racecar on his way up in the professional racing world. He has his eye on the prize - a big sponsorship deal and world-wide fame. But when there's a three-way tie between Lightning and two best cars in the league, he has to head out to California for the race to end all races. Too bad he gets sidelined in the small town of Radiator Springs!
Cars - Small Town Blues
On route to California, Lightning McQueen accidentally rolls out of his transport truck and ends up trying to find his way there on his own. Unfortunately, on the way he manages to destroy a large chunk of highway in a small, deserted town on Route 66. The judge is ready to send him on his way and forget the damage done but the pretty Porche prosecutor isn't about to let him get away that easy. She demands that Lightning be made to repave the road before he leaves the town - which he is NOT happy about.
Cars - Lesson Learned?
When Lightning McQueen first arrives in Radiator Springs, he's got an ego bigger than Paris Hilton's. He tries to escape the town on numerous occasions and is just downright rude to everyone he encounters. But it's not long before Lightning realizes he's fighting a losing battle and gets to work on fixing the road. Despite Lightning's Negative Nelly attitude, his stay in Radiator Springs proves to be quite the wake-up call. When he accidentally finds out that one of the locals is a former Piston Cup champ, he suddenly starts looking at the town in a whole new light!
Cars - DVD Features
The Cars DVD is a must-have for animation fans. On top of the movie, you'll also get some cool extras like the new animated short, Mater and the Ghostlight and the Academy Award-nominated short cartoon, One Man Band. If that's not enough, you can also watch deleted scenes from Cars and find out about the inspiration behind the movie!
Cars - Bottom Line
Pixar does it again with Cars. The story may not be as riveting as Finding Nemo or The Incredibles but the animation is definitely top notch. There are some great actors who lend their voices to the various models of cars, creating some really awesome characters - like an old VW van that sells organic fuel and a beat up tow truck that likes to go tractor tipping. There are lots of jokes, a love story and an ending you'll just have to see for yourself! Check it out with the whole fam - there's something in it for everyone.
