If you need your vert fix, the X Games Asia is happening in Shanghai from May 27th to May 30th. Inline, BMX and Skateboarding events will highlight the weekend with even the addition of MotoX, a big air event on motorcycles. The big highlight will be the appearance of the greatest current BMXer Jamie Bestwick who has been winning all the major BMX events for the past 3 years.
X Games Xtatic
Since 1995, the X Games have been one of the biggest events for extreme sports. There is lots of prize money and the competition is usually all the top athletes. The X Games are usually held in California, but because of the success and popularity of the events, the games have now spread out to other regions including Europe, Australia, and Asia.
Best Bestwick
The King of the BMX circuit Jamie Bestwick took home the gold medal in the BMX Freestyle Vert Finals. Jamie was expected to win as he has won multiple World Championships, Gravity Games, and X Games over the past few years. If you want to see some of Jamie’s moves, check out this video.
All for Andy
The other big event at the Shanghai X Games is the skateboarding events of course. The great Andy MacDonald from the US is the big favorite to come out on top. Andy was crowned as skateboarding’s World Champion eight years in a row in the World Cup Skateboard Series. He has competed in every X Games since its inception and owns 19 medals—more than any other skater.
If you’re looking to catch some of the action, it might be difficult to find on television, but ESPN usually has a separate channel that covers events like this from other countries. Let us know in the comments below if you see anything.
