Watch as thousands of Pokémon Trainers from around the world battle with their prized Pokémon for a chance to win the 2010 Pokémon Video Game Championships this spring and summer!
Head-to-Head Competition
The world's best Pokémon players will face off in a series of head-to-head competitions during the Pokémon Video Game Championships. This year, Pokémon has upped the number of qualifying tournaments and the number of participants at each location. The series will also introduce the use of Legendary Pokémon for the first time in honor of the popular Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version titles released earlier in 2010 for Nintendo DS. Legendary Pokémon are some of the most powerful and hard-to-find Pokémon in the Pokémon universe.
Tournament Details
If you want to find out more about where and when the regional qualifier tournaments will be held, just visit www.pokemonvgc.com. The 2010 Pokemon World Championships will take place in Hawaii.
At each regional tournament, players from two different age divisions (born in 1998 or later, and born in 1997 or earlier) will be picked on a first come, first served basis. The top 16 players from each of the regional tournaments will be invited to play at the Pokémon Video Game National Championships in Indianapolis, IN, on June 26 and 27, 2010. The U.S. National Championships will fill 32 spots to compete in the 2010 Pokémon Video Game World Championships in Kona, Hawaii on August 13-15, 2010, where the U.S. players will meet 66 of their international rivals from Japan and Europe.
If you bring your copy of Pokémon HeartGold or SoulSilver Version to one of this year’s tournaments, you can walk away with a character distribution. This year the Pokémon distribution is a rarely seen Shiny Eevee, that will be a different color than it normally appears in gameplay!
