Hey Coach,

I LOVE basketball but my friends are so much better than I am! I'm really, really good at making shots but when we play a regular game, I can't do anything with the stupid ball! I love to play it and I have posters of the sport all over my room, but I just can't play. I can shoot but I can't play. Any ideas?

Hey Majela,

Don't sweat it if your game isn't that great. If you love to play b-ball, keep on playing and don't worry about how good you are. Most players have weaknesses in their game. Shaq can't shoot foul shots, Dikembe Mutumbo can't dribble and the entire Chicago Bulls team can't do much of anything - so don't worry if your game isn't that great. Keep on playing and eventually you'll get better.

Make sure you practice more than just shooting the ball and scoring. You should also practice dribbling, passing, rebounding and playing defence. Even if you don't score a lot, you'll still be an important part of the team if you can make a good pass or grab a loose rebound.

You can also improve your game by going to a basketball camp this summer. You can win a week at a summer basketball camp by entering the Harlem Globetrotters' Summer Basketball contest. Just click here to enter.

Do you have a question on sports, P.E. class, fitness or health? to the Kidzworld Coach. Keep in mind peeps, the Kidzworld Coach isn't a doctor or a professional athlete or anything like that. He's just a dude who digs sports, plays 'em and knows a lot about 'em. You should always talk to your 'rents, a doctor or your school gym teacher before starting a new sport or a new exercise.
