2002 Grammy Awards

Jan 03, 2019

The 44th Annual Grammy Awards kicked off on February 27th from Los Angeles' Staples Center. Yawn... it was even more boring than your monotone science teacher talking about molecules. U2, who normally likes to rock out, opened the show with a performance of Walk On - a slower song. U2 sounded good but they didn't exactly create a bang as the opener.

The worst thing about the Grammy Awards is that they always seem so formal and serious which equals L-A-M-E. The jokes were really strained and not so funny and the audience seemed forced to laugh. There were a couple funny remarks but in a show that dragged out three and a half hours, the ha-has were few and far between.

The night should have been called The Alicia Keys' Awards cuz the girl cleaned up big time! She won five of the six awards she was nominated for, but after a while it was like, okay... enough all ready! And what was with that green hooded outfit with the white tank top? And her eyes had so much glitter she could barely keep them open!

As far as the live tune-age goes there were only three performances worth staying awake for. *NSYNC sang a few bars of Gone before breaking into the remix version of their latest hit, Girlfriend, with Nelly. It was pretty cool and the set was full of cool cars like in the Girlfriend video.

Alicia Keys performed Fallin' and broke out into a zesty salsa version of A Woman's Worth with some pretty cool Spanish dance moves. Finally, another performance worth mentioning was India.Arie strummin' her guitar and singing her reggae beat hit, Video. The Grammy Awards was a big sleeper. If you didn't watch it, you didn't miss much and you can find out who won some of the major awards below.

MTV and other awards shows are way more exciting than the Grammys and have categories that actually make sense. What did you guys think of the show?

I thought the Grammys were boring this year because most of the people I like were not there like Bow Wow, Ludacris and others. Man I thought it could have been better. It was borin' me out all the way.
