Kidzworld's recap for the episodes that aired Wednesday May 6, 2009:
:: America's Next Top Model ::
Paulina led the four remaining girls—Teyona, Celia, Allison and Aminat—in samba lessons this week. A good samba dancer needs poise and coordination like a good model, a dancer has to make the moves look easy. During practice, Celia moves like royalty—but that’s not a compliment—Paulina says she’s too stiff and she can read desperation in her face. Aminat was a natural—she was definitely the girl to contend with, but Allison was a flop and Teyona wasn’t as graceful as Paulina had expected. During the actual competition, Celia surprised everyone by relaxing and really going for it. She won the challenge and $7000(!) worth of jewelry.Bird Brains
The girls drive 2 hours out of the city into the Brazilian jungle for their bird-themed photoshoot shot by Tyra. The hair and make-up for this shoot was wild—huge hair, bodies covered in feathers—so the girls had to overcome some distracting accessories to really bring the shot home.
Allison is the most comfortable she’s ever been on set—she channels her owl/pterodactyl perfectly. As she was leaving the set she told Tyra she thought she was pretty—hilarious! Aminat crouched in the nest and worked her body but the light wasn’t hitting her face in the best way. Tyra was most excited to work with Teyona but she didn’t bring the energy to set and [kwlink Tyra was disappointed—Teyona’s photo was still hot though! Celia’s shot was beautiful but her mouth was awkward and strained.
Who's in the Top 3???
At the judging panel, Allison’s photo is picked as the best—she still looked sweet and vulnerable despite the overwhelming costume and make-up. Teyona cried when her name was called second—she really thought she was going to be in the bottom two. That unfortunate honor was reserved for Celia and Aminat—Celia because her face is strong and edgy but too mature for the youth-obsessed modeling industry and Aminat because she can’t seem to get the light to work in her favor. In the end Aminat got a second chance to see the light and Celia got the boot.
:: American Idol ::
This week the top 5 idols—Adam Lambert, Alison Iraheta, Kris Allen, Matt Giraud and Danny Gokey got some mentoring from Oscar-winner and performing artist Jamie Foxxx. Taylor Hicks and Natalie Cole were the musical guests. Danny and Allison were declared safe early after they performed Come Rain Come Shine and Someone to Watch Over Me respectively. Randy said Allison sang like Pink but with more range and Simon thought he has swagger and gave an outstanding performance. This week the top 4 idols—Adam Lambert, Alison Iraheta, Kris Allen, Danny Gokey rocked out to Alice Cooper’s classic anthem, “School’s Out” with this week’s mentor, Slash, on guitar. Paula Abdul performed her new single, I’m Just Hear For the Music which sounds overproduced and tacky, but then No Doubt rocks steady with Just a Girl to remind everyone that comebacks can be good—sorry Paula, stick to judging, not singing.
Boys Club
Kris Allen is announced into the top 3 first, then we’re subjected to a clip show of season 5’s Chris Daughtry’s successes. Kris then gives Chris (hehe) a plaque for selling 5 million copies of his debut album. The next boy into the top 3 is Adam Lambert and finally it’s announced the last idol to go on: Danny Gokey, which means it’s bye bye to Allison.
