Last years American Idol runner-up and fourth-place contestant both have albums on the shelves. Were taking a listen to Daughtry and Katharine McPhee!

Run for the hills - it's the invasion of the Idols! Season five's runner-up Katharine McPhee is dropping her self-titled debut, and fourth place Chris Daughtry and his band are celebrating their album going platinum. Check 'em both out!

Katharine McPhee - Katharine McPhee

Katharine McPhee has dropped her sweeter-than-pie image and adopted her new "rhythm-pop" persona on her self-titled debut album. There's pretty much something for everyone on this pop/hip-hop/dance/R&B disc. The songs are catchy and likable but don't form a cohesive album. Kat doesn't seem to have figured out who she is yet, but she's fun to listen to anyway.

    Chris Daughtry - Daughtry

Part Live, part Nickelback, Daughtry is by-the-book alternative rock that won't offend you but won't exactly make it on to the soundtrack of your life. Daughtry's debut contains enough hooks to lure in pop fans and enough power ballads to even snag a few seasoned rock fans. It may be a little too self-important and humorless (much like Chris Daughtry himself), but It's consistently good alternative rock that will please the masses.

  • American Idol finalist Ace Young helped write the chorus to the album's hit single "It's Not Over."
