Converse is celebrating its centennial year with the Converse Century Footwear Collection! We take a look at their fall 2008 line-up, which has influences from the '80s and '90s with plaid, zippers and wacky graphic prints.
Converse 08 Century
The Chuck Taylor All Star Century shoe features the Converse timeline and artwork created specially for the Century collection. Take your pick from either gold or silver leather, or black or white canvas. Retail - $52-87 US.
1HUND(RED) Artists
For its 100th anniversary, Converse brought together 100 artists with 100 different visions of a better world. Given blank canvases, notable artists from across the globe designed shoes that range from playful to serious. This fall, Converse is debuting its second 1HUND(RED) Artists footwear collection from artists including Amy Ruppel, Ginger Jones, Yuko Yabuki, Mike Schall and Grandpeople. Ten percent of the net wholesale price of these (Product) RED shoes will go to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Retail - $50-100 US.
Converse Music Collaboration
Converse has released a series of shoes to pay tribute to musical legends like the Grateful Dead and former Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain. The Grateful Dead collection features artwork from albums such as Skull & Roses, Steal Your Face and the famous dancing bears from their '73 disc, Bear's Choice. The Kurt Cobain-inspired Chucks are covered with sketches and scribbles from his personal journals, as well as lyrics from the songs Come as You Are and Dumb. Often seen wearing Chuck Taylor All Stars and One Stars, his collection includes both styles with added details like frayed edges and his signature embroidered by the heel of the shoe. Retail - $50-70 US.
Kids Converse
It's all about neon colors and fun and wacky prints like '80s video games and graffiti art! Be sure to pick up a pair of these Chucks before heading back to school. Retail - $30+ US.
