Dr. Mario 64 :: N64 Game Review

Dec 27, 2006

The Doctor is in on the N64. All of his friends know that they can check in with Dr. Mario for a healing dose of mega vitamins. But this time there's a problem, they've been stolen! It's up to you to use Mario's regular pills to squash the viruses and race to recover his mega vitamins.

Dr. Mario 64 Game Facts

The good doctor is all about matching the medicine to the virus. Four in a row zaps the little critter. It's Tetris action all the way. The viruses are at the bottom; the pills drop from the top; match 'em up and clear 'em out. If you wipe out two groups at once you score a bonus and your enemy gets junk dropped into their screen. You can hook up to four players for multiplayer competition in three different modes.

Dr. Mario 64 Good News

There's nothing really amazing about Dr. Mario. The graphics are clean, smooth and easy to look at. The sound is decent but nothing that'll make you jump up and dance. The action can get really fast and furious when the viruses and pills start building up faster than you can wipe 'em out. It's solid old-school fun all the way through.

The best thing about Dr. Mario is the price. It's cheaper than most titles so if you're on a budget you can pick it up and have enough coin left for a CD or two. But if you have the cash you're better off with Mario Party.
