Awkward, hopeless romantic Ross Geller has been down the aisle more times than Joey's said "How you doin'?" It's not that he's a geek - actually, yeah he is. But his nerdiness is kinda cute, he's okay-looking and he makes his girlfriends feel like they are really special. So how did a guy like Ross end up married (and divorced) three times?
First there was Carol who is the mother of his son, Ben. The fact that this marriage broke up is not his fault. It turns out that his wife, Carol, is gay. Ross thought it was great that Carol had made a good friend who she was spending a lot of time with. Poor Ross. He was hurt and hated Carol's girlfriend Susan for awhile. Carol, Susan and Ross have experienced everything from prenatal classes to parenting together. Ross had signed his first divorce papers.
Ross thought he had met the love of his life when he met his English girlfriend, Emily. They weren't together very long but Ross felt she was the one and didn't see any point in waiting. He should have realized she wasn't the one, when Emily banned him from ever hanging out with Rachel. He didn't make it past the altar this time around. On their wedding day, during the vows, he accidentally said Rachel's name instead of Emily's. Ouch! Kinda hard to explain that one. It worked out for the best because he realized that she wasn't the one. If she was, she wouldn't have kept him from seeing his friends.
They say three's the charm, but in Ross' case - not so much. His third wedding definitely takes the cake for being the funniest. After getting completely smashed in their hotel room in Vegas, Ross and Rachel go out for a night on the town. After hitting the casinos they eventually end up at one of those 24-hour quickie-wedding chapels. In their drunken stupor they decided it would be cool to go in and get hitched. Chandler and Monica see them practically fall out of the chapel doors and immediately told the rest of the gang.
When they got home Rachel wanted a divorce right away. Poor Ross, he just wants to settle down with someone and live happily ever after. And he didn't want to end up known as the "divorce guy." After putting Rachel off over and over again, Ross agreed and ends up divorced for the third time. Now that Chandler and Monica are married, marriage will be on Ross' mind again and maybe even Joey's. And with Rachel is having his baby, you never know if that may lead them down the aisle... again.
