Read Kidzworlds Eight Legged Freaks movie review! Starring Kari Wuhrer, CGI spiders and David Arquette.
The hot new flick in theaters, Eight Legged Freaks, mixes up b-grade monster movie mayhem with a cool kid actor and some humongous spiders. It's a gun-toting, spider-squashing, small-town-saving flick that makes you want to yell "Yee-haw!" (If the spiders don't give you the willies that is.)Eight Legged Freaks stars 15 year-old Scott Terra (soon to be appearing in the upcoming flick Daredevil) as Mike Parker - a young spider enthusiast. It also stars David Arquette as Chris McCormack, a mining engineer, and Kari Wuhrer as Sam Parker - the hottie sheriff of the small mining town.
All heck breaks loose when a barrel of toxic goop is dumped near a spider farm. Before you can say "aw heck, we're gonna get eaten!" - the spiders are the size of SUVs and hungrier than Homer Simpson at an all-you-can-eat burger barn. It's a good thing there are lots of tasty people in the town. Oh, wait... that's bad.
The CGI spiders are cheesy, the dialogue is goofy, the characters are a bunch of yahoos and you could drive an SUV through the holes in the plot - Eight Legged Freaks is definitely a b-movie. Don't expect a lot of thinking when you check out this flick. Just hit it with your buddies, grab some popcorn and fake spiders (to throw around during the show) and laugh it up with the Eight Legged Freaks. Whatever you do, don't miss the ready-to-rumble smackdown between the deputy's cat and a giant spider, it's a riot!
