Atlantic (2001)Thrash, pop-rocker Bif Naked is back with her first full-length CD since I Bificus. On her latest CD, Purge, Bif tackles more grown-up issues and almost every song on the album has its own unique sound. You still know it's Bif cuz she doesn't stray too far away from the sound we heard on her first two CDs. She's just introduced some new stuff, such as sonic sounding keyboards and flamenco guitars (spanish guitar) like in the song Hold On.
The CD oozes of '80s sounding Joan Jett rock tracks, like the first kickin' single, I Love Myself Today. It's a powerful rock song with a positive message. Bif belts out lyrics like, "I love myself today, not like yesterday, I'm cool, I'm calm, I'm gonna be okay - uh huh!" Other great mosh-friendly tracks include Choking On The Truth - a heavy drum track with pounding guitars, and the happy thrasher Regular Guy.
Bif does take time to catch her breath on some slower tunes like Stolen Sidewalk, which kinda reminds me of her hit Lucky. One of my faves on the CD is the mid-tempo October Song.
If you want a great pop/rock CD with a little grit, then Bif's your gal. Purge is packed with cool tunes that'll have your stereo rockin'.
