No matter how steady you think you are on a skateboard, your head is going to have a nasty meeting with Mr. Pavement eventually. Whether you're at the skatepark, on the street or tearing through your kitchen - ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET.
Skateboard Helmet Buying Tips
- Make sure the helmet fits securely and is buckled or fastened all the time - otherwise it's not much better than a hat.
- Don't buy a helmet that wobbles on your head when your head moves.
- The front of the helmet should come down over your head to about a finger's width above the eyebrows.
- Buy a helmet that is designed for skateboarding or BMXing. Many standard bicycle helmets are only designed to withstand one crash, so they aren't much use for skateboarders who are likely to be landing on their melon more often.
