Dennis Rodman - Growing Up
Dennis Rodman did not take the most conventional path to stardom. In high school, Rodman was only 5'9" and hardly stood out as an athlete. He unexpectedly grew almost a foot as a 20 year-old working as a janitor at the airport. Dennis put his new height to use as he enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he was a three-time NAIA All-American.
Dennis Rodman - Rags to Riches
The Detroit Pistons took Rodman in the second round of the 1986 NBA Draft. He immediately fit in with the Pistons, who were known at the time as the Bad Boys because of their tough play. His outstanding defense and rebounding ability helped Detroit win championships in 1989 and 1990. In the 1991-92 season, Dennis averaged an unbelievable 18.7 rebounds per game. In 1993, Dennis was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, where he starred for three years before signing a free agent deal with the Chicago Bulls. Dennis, alongside fellow superstars Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, won three NBA championships. After he left Chicago in 1998, he played with the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks before calling it quits in 2000.
Dennis Rodman - One of a Kind
Aside from his unique ability to rebound, Dennis was unique, period. The first thing you'd notice when Rodman came on the court was his elaborate tattoos and his dyed hair - which ranged from blonde to green. He had tattoos all over his body. Off the court, you would see him with all his piercings, as well as outrageous outfits. Once, while promoting a book, he showed up to a book signing in a wedding dress! After his basketball career was over, he briefly wrestled in the WCW. Dennis was also briefly married to Carmen Electra and even had a romance with Madonna!
