Inventing 3LW
The name 3LW, stands for Three Little Women. 3LW are known for their vocal harmonies and have been compared to the likes of TLC and the Destiny's Child. 3LW was formed by Kiely Williams' mom because she wanted to make her daughter's dreams of becoming a singer come true.
3LW Get Their Break
In 2000 3LW got an acting gig playing a girl group called Blue Mascara for an episode of the Nickelodeon series Taina. They also contributed a song called 'Til I Say So for the movie Bring It On, which stars Kirsten Dunst. A year later 3LW released their debut CD, 3LW, which sold more than 1 million copies.
3LW Hits Hard Times
In August of 2002 things went sour between the girls of 3LW. Just before the release of the second album A Girl Can Mack Naturi Naughton left 3LW and filed a lawsuit against the group because she claims she was forced to leave and because she says Kiely Williams cussed her out and threw a KFC dinner at her. Yuck - that's not so finger lickin' good!
3LW Is Back In Business
3LW held open auditions to replace Naturi Naughton and they chose 15 year-old Jessica 'J' Benson. 3LW's first album with their new member, and on a new label, So So Def, is due out at the end of 2003. Also, Kiely Williams and Adrienne Bailon played the roles of pop singers in an all girl group (what a stretch) in the Disney movie Cheetah Girls.
