Who says hip-hoppers can't rollerblade? Meet Ramelle Knight - one of freestyle rolling's coolest up-and-coming stars!
Ramelle Knight - Growing Up
Ramelle Knight grew up on the tough streets of the Bronx, New York. He played a lot of basketball as a kid, but always had a fascination with rollerblades. B-ball did not give him the thrill he was looking for, so Ramelle started rollerblading at the age of 15 as a way to get around. A natural athlete, he quickly picked up the sport and almost instantaneously was able to skate on rails, stairs and ramps. Not long after he started skating, he was already featured in videos where he would show off all of his crazy tricks.Ramelle Knight - Dipskate
After years of making a name for himself in the underground action sports circuit, people started to take notice. His unbelievable skating talent mixed with his natural charisma and hip-hop style made him one of the most unique talents in all of extreme sports. In 2006, Jim Jones - the president of Diplomat Records - partnered with Ramelle and his skating team and formed Dipskate. The idea of the Dipskate Team is to combine freestyle rolling and hip-hop music and culture.Ramelle Knight - Future
Ramelle believes that Dipskate and freestyle rolling are the future of action sports and plans on bringing it to the same level as skateboarding and snowboarding. Aside from skating, he is involved in several other ventures. He is involved in the modeling of a clothing line called b.Unique & Co and for Jim JJones' Nostic Apparel. In the near future Ramelle and Dipskate are coming out with a skating movie called The Project, which is due out in 2008. Ramelle is also a rapper and plans to debut his mixtape album in 2007. Business aside, Ramelle is involved in the community. He wants kids in neighborhoods similar to the one he grew up in to use the sport to stay out of trouble.Ramelle Knight - Did U Know?
Ramelle Knight Says...
"I'm not one these lame skaters out there that won't show you no love, won't speak to you, won't sign something for you. If you've met me, you know how I do. If you haven't and you see me in the streets, holla at me."Related Stories:
