Kidzworld reviews Hot Rod, starring SNLs Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Isla Fisher.
Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg plays an aspiring stuntman in Hot Rod. Does it soar, or crash and burn? Check out Kidzworld's review to find out!
Hot Rod - Stuntman Un-Extraordinaire
Rod Kimble (Andy Samberg) is a really bad stuntman. Riding around on a moped that he has to peddle, he jumps over trucks and swimming pools, gets lit on fire and even gets blown up - but fails miserably every time. He also gets beat down by his step-dad in their weekly sparring matches, where he totally kicks the crap out of Rod! When his step-dad gets sick and needs a heart transplant that costs $50,000, Rod sets out to raise the cash by jumping 15 buses. But why would Rod want to save a step-dad who smashes his face every chance he gets? Cuz he wants to earn his respect by kicking his butt once he's healthy again!Hot Rod - Crash Course
Rod trains for the death-defying stunt by enlisting the help of his step-brother Kevin, next door neighbor Denise (played by Isla Fisher) and a couple of idiotic buddies. It's hilarious to see Rod miss jumps, fall down hills, do nosedives, and crash into just about everything! A cameo performance by fellow SNL'er Chris Parnell as an AM radio deejay, as well as a dance scene to great '80s music score extra laughs, but the laughs are few and far between.Hot Rod - DVD Features
This DVD doesn't come with many bonus features, but what you do get will have you bustin' a gut on the couch! Features include Rod's hilarious tribute to the dance scene in the movie, deleted and extended scenes, outtakes, and Kevin's home videos of Rod in action!Hot Rod - Bottom Line
Hot Rod isn't meant to be anything more than a silly comedy about silly people doing silly things. And if that's what you're looking for, then this is the flick for you. Just make sure you and your buddies don't try the stunts at home.Hot Rod Rating:
