*NSYNC kicked off their PopOdyssey Tour with a lil help from Lil Romeo. U2s Elevation Tomb Raider video hits the tube and Madonnas Drowned World Tour goes HBO. Kidzworlds got it all.
*NSYNC kicked off the first show of their PopOdyssey Tour in Jacksonville, Florida on May 23, 2001 in support of their upcoming CD Celebrity. PopOdyssey is the biggest musical production in concert history. Yup, they've set another record. They opened the show with their latest single Pop after getting the crowd pumped with videos showing the band's rise to stardom. Then the fab five emerge from a "translucent pod" at the center of the stadium. The elaborate stage is made up of catwalks, conveyor belts and even elevators - this should make for an interesting show. You can also expect videos, fireworks, smoke, lasers and the guys riding mechanical bulls during their Space Cowboy set. Yippie-Yi-Yay!
If you didn't get tickets for Madonna's Drowned World Tour then the next best thing is to see it on TV. Catch a live TV broadcast of the Material Girl's August 26 concert, Madonna Live: The Drowned World Tour at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan, her home state. The concert airs on HBO at 9 pm. This is the first tour in eight years for momma Madonna, who kicks off the tour on June 9 in Barcelona, Spain. The first US date is July 21 in Philadelphia.
Rap cutie Lil' Romeo is enjoying success with his hit song My Baby and even opened up for *NSYNC (with BB Mak and Tonya Mitchell) on the first date of their PopOdyssey Tour. Last week Lil' Romeo's song My Baby was the number one selling single in the US. According to Billboard the lil' rapper is both the youngest artist and youngest rap artist to reach number one on a solo project. Way to go Romeo! Look for Lil' Romeo coming to a city near you.
The new U2 video for Elevation is finally out. The song Elevation is featured in the upcoming Tomb Raider movie starring Angelina Jolie as video game vixen Lara Croft. (U2 is Lara Croft's fave group.) The video shows U2 doing their thing - mixed with clips from the Tomb Raider movie. The Elevation (Tomb Raider Mix) version will be available on the Tomb Raider soundtrack and the regular version of Elevation is also on U2's latest release All That You Can't Leave Behind. The soundtrack comes out in June 2001 just before the big summer release of Tomb Raider on June 15. This is one movie I'm dying to see! To watch the video for Elevation click here.
